The School of Water Resources and Environment boasts national-level programs of ground water science and engineering, environmental engineering, provincial-level programs of hydrology and water resources engineering, key laboratory for sustainable utilization and development of water resources in Hebei province, provincial-level demonstrative experimental center for sustainable utilization of water resources and industrial restructuring for collaborative innovation, provincial-level water conservancy and hydropower innovation highland, and a Master’s degree graduate program of geological engineering. The school has three undergraduate programs, i.e., hydrology and water resources engineering, environmental engineering, and groundwater science and engineering. The objectives are to enable students to acquire the knowledge and skills in hydrogeology and engineering geology, groundwater resources evaluation and management, development of groundwater resources and pollution control, water pollution control, environmental geo-survey research, geological disaster prevention and control, solid waste treatment and disposal, environmental impact assessment, and environmental protection. The school has an experimental center for water resources and environment, and labs of fluid mechanics, fundamentals of hydrogeology, seepage mechanics, hydro-geochemistry, water detection, water pollution control, and environmental microbiology.
The center for sustainable utilization of water resources and industrial restructuring for collaborative innovation is jointly sponsored by Hebei water resources bureau, Hebei survey and development bureau of geology and mineral resources, Chinese University of Geosciences, hydro-geological environment and geological research institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the institute for genetics, developmental biology and agricultural resources, China geological survey and hydro-geological environmental research center, north China nonferrous engineering investigation institute limited company, with our university as the leading unit.
